The business traded alongside the Surgeries until 2006 when The Practice was sold and David and his wife Karen relocated to Gloucestershire. Surgical Systems then took on a new life and expanded, offering a larger range of both new and quality pre-owned equipment but still offering the personal service of a Veterinary surgeon when required.
In May 2015 Laura (David and Karen’s daughter) joined the family business.
Laura graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance and spent her first year working for a local accountancy business.
Laura was very involved in organizing our stand for BSAVA and we will also be attending the London Vet Show at the London Excel Centre in November. So if you missed us in Birmingham come along to stand at the London Vet Show.
We moved to new premises in Quedgeley, Gloucester in September 2015 and have filled the additional space with new lines and set up a service department.
Nick Carter (formerly NJC autoclaves) has joined us as Engineering Director and is busy developing the servicing and repair arm of the business.
Nick trained at Rolls Royce in Bristol. In the last 10 years he has focused on Field Service and Repairs, dealing mainly but not exclusively with Steam Sterilisers. Nick joins Dave Field our ex GE Healthcare engineer. Dave prepares and services pre-owned anaesthetic machines and monitors, focusing mainly on Datex Ohmeda/ GE Healthcare equipment.
The service side of the business is becoming increasingly important and the feedback from customers is very positive. Nick is currently looking for another engineer to expand this side of the business.
